Madalina Georgescu – Sub-Regional Resource Editor (Eastern Europe)

MGMadalina Georgescu is an ENT Consultant and Audiologist. Since 2013 she is Associate professor at the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest, Romania, chief of the Audiology and Hearing Aid discipline. She has a PhD in Vestibulogy and a master degree in the field of Biophysics and Cellular Biotechnology.She has a clinical and educational experience of over 15 years as an ENT Physician in the Institute of Phono-Audiology and ENT Functional Surgery, Bucharest.

She is actively involved in two National Health Programs from their very beginning – National Program of Implantable Hearing Aids and Cochlear Implants (2000) and National Program of Universal New born Hearing Screening (2006). Since 2009 she works as volunteer in the Special Olympics Romania Foundation, as Clinical Director for Healthy Hearing.

She is cofounder of the Romanian Society of Neuro-Otology (2014), member in the board of Romanian Society of Pediatric ENT (2009) and Romanian Society of Audiology and Communication Pathology (2015) and member of other international and national ENT or Audiology Societies. Since 2016 she is member of the Working Group on Audiology & Intellectual Disability, part of the European Federation of Audiology Societies (EFAS).

She is peer-review and member of the editorial board of four national and three international scientific journals and Editor-in-Chief of the Romanian ENT journal published one monography, 28 chapters in 14 medical books, 85 articles published in scientific journals and presented over 150 papers at international and national scientific meetings. Her research interest is focused on electrophysiology of the auditory system, vestibular rehabilitation, cochlear implantation, and hearing screening.
